Systems Administrator

Anchor QEA, an environmental science and engineering consulting firm, is seeking a full-time SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR for its Seattle, WA office. 

The Systems Administrator will assist the IT team and its Director in supporting our staff’s computing needs in a “sane” but fast-paced and dynamic computing environment. The position will provide Server (Systems and Applications) Administration, and broad based Helpdesk Support for Anchor QEA’s offices. The candidate will be expected to assist in the configuring, monitoring and administration of our servers, workstations, laptops and technology-related peripherals. Anchor QEA has standardized on Microsoft’s Server 2008, Windows 7 platforms as our operating systems of choice; the candidate will be required to install, manage and configure all of these. The candidate must have work-related experience managing Microsoft Exchange Server 2010/2007, Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Microsoft Server 2008 and VMWare installations. The successful candidate will hired at a mid-level Systems Administrator and will be expected to contribute immediately.

The successful candidate will have at 4 to 6 years Systems Administration experience in a Mid to Large Company environment. Your experience will include installing, troubleshooting and maintaining computers running Microsoft Windows 7/XP Pro and Microsoft Office 2010/2007 in a corporate environment. Qualified applicants must be comfortable working directly with staff, and must be well versed in troubleshooting computer problems via telephone, e-mail, and in person, while explaining technical terms and procedures to a non-technical audience. Knowledge of TCP/IP and Windows Networking is required.  The candidate must be proficient in administering Windows 2008/2003 Server, Active Directory (AD) and its services. Practical/work-related experience in installing and configuring GIS, CAD and data analysis products is a plus. A Bachelors degree and Microsoft Certifications are preferred. Heavy lifting (over 25-pounds in weight) will be occasionally requested and required.
