Maintenance Dredging of the Larkspur Ferry Terminal Berths and Navigation Channel

In 2004, the Larkspur Ferry Terminal required maintenance dredging of approximately 28,800 cubic yards of material to restore navigation depth in Berths 1 to 4 and a portion of the entrance channel. In 2006, approximately 503,000 cubic yards were similarly dredged from the turning basin and navigation channel.
Anchor QEA was responsible for all aspects of both projects, including:- Assisting in obtaining 404 permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and all state and local approvals
- Developing Tier 1 evaluations with confirmatory testing (These documents reduced overall sampling and testing costs.)
- Conducting sediment characterizations to determine suitability for in-bay disposal
- Preparing the Biological Evaluations for Section 7 consultation
- Managing the condition, pre-dredge, and post-dredge bathymetry surveys
- Designing dredging and disposal plans, specifications, and bid packages for both projects, including temporary disassembly of existing floats for the berth maintenance dredging
- Assisting with bid selection and construction oversight
- Preparing the USACE completion reports
- Assisting with emergency permitting to replace navigational aids as necessary
