Manufactured Gas Plants

Investigation and Remediation Approaches for the Unique Needs of MGPs

Anchor QEA conducts sediment remediation projects related to a wide range of past industrial practices. Our experience is deep in the investigation and remediation of sediments and groundwater impacted by former Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) operations closely related to byproducts of wood-treating facilities and PCBs.

Our scientists and engineers have developed environmentally sound, cost-effective approaches for investigation and remediation of characteristics unique to MGP sites—including environmental forensics, upland groundwater corrective action, nearshore groundwater-surface water interaction, light and dense nonaqueous phase liquids (NAPLs) in sediment, corrective action for sediments (including monitored natural recovery, capping, and dredging), and surface water issues.
