Anchor QEA attends PNWA Annual Convention

October 10, 2018, Pacific Northwest Waterways Association Annual Convention, Vancouver, Washington. PNWA hosted its annual convention at the Vancouver Hilton. Over 150 industry professionals were in attendance, including Anchor QEA’s own Principal Scientist, Dan Berlin, Principal Scientist, Greg Summers, and Managing Planner, Valerie Oster. The event was a great networking and information exchange opportunity related to issues, challenges, and solutions for Pacific Northwest Ports, businesses, and public agencies. Anchor QEA has supported PNWA for many years, which has a goal of ensuring that northwest waterways are efficient, reliable, and environmentally sustainable.

This year’s PNWA annual convention featured a US Army Corps of Engineers commander panel, including commanders from the Northwestern Division and Seattle, Portland, and Walla Walla Districts as well as speakers from the Washington Public Ports Association, Oregon Public Ports Association, Bonneville Power Association, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries West Coast Region. Dan presented on Port-led wetland mitigation banking projects in the northwest, highlighting the experience of several northwest Ports to sponsor mitigation banks, ultimately promoting environmental stewardship while also cost-effectively supporting development and waterfront commerce.
