Martinez Marina and Historic Fishing Pier
Martinez, California
For nearly 20 years, Anchor QEA has supported the renovation and maintenance of the City of Martinez’s marina and historic fishing pier.
Anchor QEA led the engineering design for a new seawall, habitat restoration, and multiple dredging episodes; provided geotechnical, wind, and wave studies; and assessed the condition of docks and piles. Anchor QEA also led the permitting and development of NEPA documentation in support of the HUD grant-funded renovations to the City’s historic fishing pier.
Regulatory support included leading biological resource evaluations, habitat mapping, natural resource impact evaluations, and resource agency consultations with the CDFW, USFWS, and NOAA Fisheries. All required state and federal permits were obtained from USACE, RWQCB, and BCDC to facilitate construction and maintenance activities.
Due to the establishment of pickleweed in the City’s historical dredged material placement pond adjacent to the marina, Anchor QEA completed a complicated ESA consultation process with USACE and USFWS. Anchor QEA was also a key contributor to the City’s updated Waterfront Trust Lands Use Plan.
